# Skill: morning-brief

- **Name:** Morning Brief
- **Trigger:** "brief me" or "morning brief" · also runs on a schedule if I set one (07:30 works)
- **Requires:** Calendar (read), Email (read), for example the Google Calendar and Gmail tools · my Focus file · Level: Optimum
- **Output:** One brief, under 200 words: today's top 3 priorities, the calendar with collisions and the biggest free block, the 2 or 3 emails that matter, one thing not to drop. Saved as a dated file (briefs/YYYY-MM-DD.md), so the graduation check can prove it ran.
- **Safety:** READ ONLY, one exception: it saves its own brief as a dated file. It sends nothing, replies to nothing, books nothing, edits no existing file.

## Steps

1. Read my Focus file. Note P1 and this week's top 3. If the Focus file is
older than 14 days, say so in one line at the top of the brief.
2. Read today's calendar plus tomorrow's first event. Flag any collision.
Find the largest free block of 90 minutes or more; that is the deep work
   candidate.
3. Scan email from the last 24 hours. Pick at most 3 that need me today:
a real person waiting on me, a deadline, or money. Skip newsletters,
notifications and anything a robot sent.
4. Build the brief in this exact order:
   (1) Today's 3 priorities, P1 first.
   (2) Calendar: events, the free block, any collision.
   (3) The emails, one line each, ending with what each one needs from me.
   (4) One closing line: "One thing not to drop today: X", drawn from
overdue items or the Focus file.
5. Keep the whole brief under 200 words. It must fit one phone screen.
6. Deliver it, then save it as briefs/YYYY-MM-DD.md (create the folder on
first run). Then stop. Do not act on anything in the brief unless I ask.

## Example run

Me: brief me

AI:
MORNING BRIEF · Tue 14 Jul

Priorities
1. P1: send the Q3 proposal to Marta (due Thu)
2. Publish the case study draft
3. 30 min invoice cleanup

Calendar
09:00 call with Marta (45 min) · 17:30 gym
13:00 to 16:00 free. Biggest block, the proposal fits here.
No collisions.

Email (2 of 41 matter)
- Marta: wants the Thu deadline moved up, needs a yes or no today
- Accountant: one June receipt missing, 2 minute fix

One thing not to drop today: answer Marta before the 09:00 call.

## Make it yours

- Set the schedule: a daily 07:30 run via your agent's scheduler beats
  remembering to ask.
- Change the email window: last 24 hours is the default, "unread only"
  is stricter and faster.
- If a fitness tracker is connected, add one health line after Calendar:
sleep hours and yesterday's movement. One line, no lecture.
